Each year a group of friends and I have a giant pumpkin growing competition in Tai Tapu, Canterbury. It started off as a bit of fun, an excuse really to get together at a pub to celebrate my birthday, judge pumpkins and do something a bit wacky. Continued here.

4 year old gardener takes top prize in National vegetable growing competition. New Zealand gardening is in great hands if Finlay Babbage is anything to go by. He was judged the 'The Great NZ Grow Off' champion recently after judges compared over 900 entrants in the inaugural national competition. Continued here.
