Newsletter for the week of Wednesday 12th February 2009
11th February 2009
WHATS BEEN HAPPENING?:
Our big wholesale sale is over, thanks for your support, we hope you got
some good deals. New in stock this week, Ericas. We have a good range
of varieties and colours that will flower over winter. We have a good
stock of hebes, locally grown, hardy and many varieties, some tall and
some groundcover. Spring bulbs are arriving everyday, bulk daffodils are
available now. Vege gardens are getting replanted, there's plenty of room
after the potato crop is dug. Time now to store the potatoes in a cool
dark place to prevent them turning green. Tomatoes are finally ripening,
get them picked and eaten or freeze them if you have too many. Cucumbers
and Courgettes are on full production the more you pick them the more
they produce. Flower gardens are at their peak if you have marigolds and
pertunias they will last until frosts. Otherwise it's time to have a clean
up and replant with winter and spring flowering annuals. Best colour at
the moment are the agapanthus. Still some geraniums in pots for instant
colour.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:
Digging the potato crop and planting winter veges, but make sure you plant
them all before the end of the month as growth slows up in march. Weed
your lawn now, while they look extra large, and grass grub survalence,
nows the time as they become active, the birds will show u where they
are.
