WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?:

Extra mild weather at the moment, no wind and no rain, southland seems to have missed all the snow. This time last year we were experiencing black frosts so we've got it pretty good this winter so far. We are busy shifting fruit trees at the moment, restocking and organizing everything so you can find what you want. We have a large range of stone and pip fruit plus lots of berry fruit, so it is a good time to study our catalogue and plant some fruit trees. Time now to prune exisiting fruit trees. If you need assistance give us a ring and our expert team will be around to help. It's time now to prune most trees and roses so make sure you have all the equipment and advise from us at Diacks. Best colour this week are the polyanthus, best sales are the seed potatoes, a strong demand for Red King as they were in short supply last year. A new potato, Purple Passion, something new to try. Still plenty of lillies for sale, get them in now for colour over christmas. Vege gardens are still slow, selling now garlic, shallots, a few silverbeet plants and cabbage.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:

Shaking the seed rack in antisipation. Traying up seed potatoes to sprout. Dig over green crops and spread compost to allow dry out before spring. It's nearly all go, so be ready.
