WHATS
BEEN HAPPENING?:
Six months until Christmas. Cjilly winter blast yesterday,
kept all our customers at home, but the sun is shinning today and it can only
get better. Last of our roses have been potted and put into the shop as have the
new seasons rhodo's and camellias. We have some great canellias this year, good
size plants, great for screening or hedging. We've had a sort through the magnolias
too, there's a huge range of varieties starting to make buds. Not much happening
in the vege garden at this time of year. Garlic and shallots can be planted, broad
beans also handle the cold weather, we sell seeds or plants that have been started.
We are sowing onions in punnets now, ready for an early start on spring customers
are already starting to look over the racks in antisapation of an early growing
season. Only a month away from our first supertoms. We have a new tomato this
year grown especially for our centennial year, sweet petite, make sure you try
one or two. We still have a few lilies and peonys for sale and the polyanthus
are the best colour for pots at lorneville, we have 50% off selected flowering
cherries and pots, good buying at the moment is peastraw, we still have good supplies.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:
Keeping warm and dry. Time to read up on the
garden books and plan the year ahead of what to plant and where. Stock up on prunning
equipment, it's nearly time to do the big clean up and chop back last years growth.
Check lawns and paths for moss and slippery areas.
