For the week of: Wednesday
20th December 2006WHAT?S BEEN HAPPENING?:
Last newsletter for the year, thanks to all our customers, for your support
over the last year. Have a good Christmas and holiday if you're lucky enough
to get some days off. We will be closed Christmas and New Years day only, so
good chance to get in and spend your vouchers. Some more rain today, good planting
weather for the vege gardens, time to put in leeks, Brussel Sprouts and Winter
maturing Cabbages plus Cauli's. Still get a crop of lettuce yet and maybe some
beans, we have plants of runners, butter and green french available. First tomatoes
starting to ripen, make sure you keep them well watered and fertilized for maximum
size and flavour. Plenty of instant colour around, even the annuals are flowering
- Petunias, Marigolds for planting out. Seed potatoes still in demand,
a few planted now, will mature at easter. We have a hugh range of gift ware
and gardening presents for all your family - Birdbaths, tools, statues, flowering
plants and vouchers if you can't decide. We gift wrap free and we are open Sunday,
Christmas eve for the last minute shoppers.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING?:
Harvest time. New potatoes, Peas, Broadbeans, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Lettuce,
Baby Carrots, White stone Turnips, Raspberrys and Strawberrys, have you planted
any? You don't know what you're missing - YUM!. Replace with Leeks, Cabbage,
Cauli, Broccoli and use Derris Dust to discourage white butterflys. Greenfly
is enemy number one on most plants, it blows out over night. Start dead heading
roses, it encourages more flowers. Feed roses with Nitrophoska. Good holidays
