Cat astrophe or Cat Company
Whenever I get time to do my garden at home my cats come and keep me company.
They rub against me and if I am not paying then enough attention there will
be a swipe with a paw or a tap on my back with a soft paw. They climb up
trees or structures in the garden as if to show how much fun there is to
be had in a garden.
Cats have definite favourites in the plant world. Top of the bill is catnip and catmint as well as valerian.
The photo shows one of our three cat statues sitting beside a rosemary bush.
I wanted to talk about rosemary as a significant herb for this article. A very sad thing happened on my way to work on Friday.
On the corner of Ferguson and Ruahine Street a cat had been badly injured by a car and was in the middle of the road.
A joint effort by three women saw us get the cat to the side of the road and then two of us took the poor thing to the vets.
Its injuries were too much to consider anything but the humane choice of being put to sleep.
Someone will be missing their pet and if it is one of our readers then call the SPCA and they will give you information on your cat.
Take comfort in knowing that pussy had loving arms around it in its last minutes and as we carried it to the vets it was purring as if to say thanks for helping me.
There was no tag on the cat and I am glad my two have tags on them with a phone number.
Cats wander and are devils for going on the roads so it does make sense to put some ID on them.
Rosemary is for remembrance and is often the herb that is planted to remember a loved one who has passed on.
